My First Book Signing

My First Book Signing

A little less than a month ago, I had the opportunity to take part in a book signing event at my church. It was advertised for weeks, before I decided to participate. When I first saw the announcement, it was during my graduation from Disciple Bible Study III. (I’ll tell you more about my experience with Disciple Bible Study in later post.)

Anyway, I was in church sitting in the designated pews with my classmates when the announcement came on the screen.  It was announced that our church’s bookstore was sponsoring it’s ninth annual book signing event. My ears perked up and my mind whirled at the thought. It was as if God was talking to me and telling me that He was opening doors for me. SO, WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU END up with someone, only to find out later that it was a huge mistake?

Maybe you were caught up with the romance of the whole affair and did not take the time to really get to know the other person. Maybe you had been single so long that you were afraid to be alone again, and you just wanted to make this relationship work. So, you ignored some of the warning signals (and we all get them). So, you kept seeing that person, and you went along with the relationship just for the sake of having a relationship. You thought that you were saving yourself from embarrassment, if others saw you were still “together”; but inside you were not happy, because that person turned out to be a real monster that made your life miserable. Could this be your story? Can you relate to any of this or something similar? Are you still in this kind of situation? Continue reading "What If You Made a Mistake in Love?"

When Your Prayers Don’t Change Anything

When Your Prayers Don’t Change Anything

One who turns away from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.”—Proverbs 28:9

Uncertain Prayer

If you are the type of person who lives any way you want and only prays when it is convenient for you, the scripture above explains why your prayers may not be answered. God sees everything you do and knows everything about you. So, what’s the use in praying, if you’re going to disobey the law? If you’re going to do what you’re going to do anyway, why bother praying to God? Do you think a judge would grant your request, despite your refusal to obey the law? If not, then why petition the court to rule in your favor? Continue reading “When Your Prayers Don’t Change Anything”
