What Is the Measure of Love?Part I
In part one, you discovered that true love that lasts a life time is possible if you are willing to have the right attitudes and practice certain behaviors. Those attitudes and behaviors that define love are:
patience, kindness, not envious, not boastful, not proud, not rude, not selfish, not easily angered, not thinking evil thoughts, not rejoicing in wrongdoing, rejoicing in the truth, bearing (enduring) all things, and believing all things. Continue reading “What Is the Measure of Love? Part II”
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” –Matthew 22:37-39 NET Bible
Happy Valentine’s Day!!! ❤❤❤
How do you measure love? Is it by the cost of what gifts you receive or the things that someone does for you? As we approach Valentine’s Day, I recall the first line of a poem that I first learned in my high school English class. It reads: “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.” (How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet 43), Elizabeth Barrett Browning 1806-1861). Although this epic poem was written approximately 200 years ago, the question and its response are still worth considering. Instead of looking to understand or measure the depth of someone else’s love for you, you should examine your own heart to see how much and how well you love the people in your life. Your measure of love should be based on whether you truly love as you say you do or as you yourself want to be loved. Continue reading “What Is the Measure of Love? Part I”
SO, WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU END up with someone, only to find out later that it was a huge mistake?
Maybe you were caught up with the romance of the whole affair and did not take the time to really get to know the other person. Maybe you had been single so long that you were afraid to be alone again, and you just wanted to make this relationship work. So, you ignored some of the warning signals (and we all get them). You let some things that really irked you slide, hoping that the person would change for the better if you just gave them some help and support.
So, you kept seeing that person, and you went along with the relationship just for the sake of having a relationship. You thought that you were saving yourself from embarrassment, if others saw you were still “together”; but inside you were not happy, because that person turned out to be a real monster that made your life miserable. Could this be your story? Can you relate to any of this or something similar? Are you still in this kind of situation? Continue reading "What If You Made a Mistake in Love?"
