About the latest song that spoke to my heart…I woke up early one morning, knowing I should get up and pray, but I laid my head back down on my pillow to catch a few extra zzz’s. Just as I was about to drift off for a snooze, I heard a voice in my spirit singing, “Are you washed in the blood? In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?” My antennas went up immediately, and I jumped out of my bed and ran to pray. It was one of the best prayer times I’ve had in a long time, and the best part is that the Holy Spirit’s presence was really powerful and amazing. Continue reading Communicating In Song

A little less than a month ago, I had the opportunity to take part in a book signing event at my church. It was advertised for weeks, before I decided to participate. When I first saw the announcement, it was during my graduation from Disciple Bible Study III. (I’ll tell you more about my experience with Disciple Bible Study in later post.)
Anyway, I was in church sitting in the designated pews with my classmates when the announcement came on the screen. It was announced that our church’s bookstore was sponsoring it’s ninth annual book signing event. My ears perked up and my mind whirled at the thought. It was as if God was talking to me and telling me that He was opening doors for me. Two of my classmates looked at me immediately and said that I should do it; but I hesitated, saying that I was not ready. Although I had been working on my second book and planning to publish it, I was taking my sweet time, touching it when I felt like it. But, I was really procrastinating more than anything else. “One who turns away from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.”—Proverbs 28:9
If you are the type of person who lives any way you want and only prays when it is convenient for you, the scripture above explains why your prayers may not be answered. God sees everything you do and knows everything about you. So, what’s the use in praying, if you’re going to disobey the law? If you’re going to do what you’re going to do anyway, why bother praying to God? Do you think a judge would grant your request, despite your refusal to obey the law? If not, then why petition the court to rule in your favor? Continue reading “When Your Prayers Don’t Change Anything”
