Communicating In Song

” Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him.”–Psalm 33:1 (NIV)

When the Lord Sings…

The Psalms talk a lot about singing to the Lord…”make a joyful noise, sing unto the Lord a new song”, etc., etc. But did you know that the Lord also sings to us? I have heard the beautiful sounds of angels singing His praises; but when the Lord sings to me, it’s personal, intimate, special. (See Zephaniah 3:17) It definitely assures me of His love for me, and reminds me that He has not forgotten about me.

It’s been a long time since I heard a song in my spirit, but whenever I do, I’m all ears. Recently, the Holy Spirit brought back songs to my recollection and impressed them so heavily on my heart, that they kept me singing for days. During those times, I was in deep thought about one issue or another, and before I knew it, I was singing a tune that just ministered to that very situation.

Yet, this time, more than just ministering to the situation, the Lord also encouraged me to keep on singing. Being an eclectic person, I have many interests, singing being one of them. However, I chose to focus my energies on my writing in order to be successful in that area.

Music is my second language.

Nevertheless, music is my second language. I love to sing. The Lord knows that; and I feel a gentle nudge in my spirit to communicate more in song, not just to the Lord, but to the world. Therefore, I am in the process of recording and sharing songs (acapella) that speak to my heart. Hymn Speak

Here’s the story about the latest song that spoke to my heart.

I woke up early one morning, knowing I should get up and pray, but I laid my head back down on my pillow to catch a few extra zzz’s. Just as I was about to drift off for a snooze, I heard a voice in my spirit singing, “Are you washed in the blood? In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?” My antennas went up immediately, and I jumped out of my bed and ran to pray. It was one of the best prayer times I’ve had in a long time, and the best part is that the Holy Spirit’s presence was really powerful and amazing.

Every now and then, we need to check ourselves.

Every now and then, we need to check ourselves to make sure that we are walking in the straight and narrow, following in the path of righteousness that the Savior is leading us in. We need to be able to answer in the affirmative and say: “Yes, I am washed; I am clean. My heart is right with God, and I am going to heaven.”

Are you saved? (i.e. Have you earnestly repented of your sins and accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?) If not, now would be a good time. If you are saved, are you working out your own salvation with fear and trembling? Or are you just barely hanging in there? Sometimes, I feel like that; but God is faithful. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will be with us until the end of time. And He will catch us when we are falling, build us up and make us strong where we are weak, and anoint us with His power to do His will.
