We continue to read and study the Word of God because it “…is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). God can reveal something new that we had not seen before or shine light on areas in our lives that need to be dealt with. God is patient and kind, full of compassion and tender mercies. About the latest song that spoke to my heart…I woke up early one morning, knowing I should get up and pray, but I laid my head back down on my pillow to catch a few extra zzz’s. Immediately, I knew what it meant and what He wanted me to do with it, but I began to overanalyze the thought. Was it even a relevant topic? I reasoned that everyone knows this already and that it is pointless to even mention it. I even thought that it meant something other than the original meaning that was given at the same time as the thought. Did God mean that “the world is black with sin”? “If I give away everything I own, and if I give over my body in order to boast, but do not have love, I receive no benefit.”–1 Corinthians 13:3 NET Bible

patience, kindness, not envious, not boastful, not proud, not rude, not selfish, not easily angered, not thinking evil thoughts, not rejoicing in wrongdoing, rejoicing in the truth, bearing (enduring) all things, and believing all things. Continue reading “What Is the Measure of Love? Part II”
