“One who turns away from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.”—Proverbs 28:9
If you are the type of person who lives any way you want and only prays when it is convenient for you, the scripture above explains why your prayers may not be answered. God sees everything you do and knows everything about you. So, what’s the use in praying, if you’re going to disobey the law? If you’re going to do what you’re going to do anyway, why bother praying to God? Do you think a judge would grant your request, despite your refusal to obey the law? If not, then why petition the court to rule in your favor? Continue reading “When Your Prayers Don’t Change Anything”

Relating Thoughts to Personal Experience
As I meditated on this scripture, I began to understand that people have the power and the responsibility to control what they put into their hearts so that what comes out of their mouths will be good. That is the only way to control your mouth, because what goes into your heart (your “spiritual womb”) will come out of your mouth in words that are born like a baby being expelled from its mother’s womb. Once it is time for delivery, the “baby” (i.e. your words) is going to come out. You have no control over that; it’s automatic. Continue reading “How to Control Your Mouth”
If Jesus had yielded to temptation, we’d all be doomed!
According to the passage about the temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11), the tempter (devil) can be allowed to come to you, lead you, and take you places. But you have a choice not to yield to his temptations. If you resist the devil, as the Bible says, he will flee from you as he did after tempting Jesus in the wilderness!
