When COVID Comes A Knockin’

When COVID comes a’ knockin’
Knocking at your door
What do you say? What do you do?
Do you cry? Do you scream?
Do you panic, do you fear?
Do your thoughts spin out of control? Do you get lost in despair?
Or do you wish you’d wake up to discover that it was just a bad dream? Continue reading When COVID Comes A Knockin’

My First Book Signing

My First Book Signing

A little less than a month ago, I had the opportunity to take part in a book signing event at my church. It was advertised for weeks, before I decided to participate. When I first saw the announcement, it was during my graduation from Disciple Bible Study III. (I’ll tell you more about my experience with Disciple Bible Study in later post.)

Anyway, I was in church sitting in the designated pews with my classmates when the announcement came on the screen.  It was announced that our church’s bookstore was sponsoring it’s ninth annual book signing event. My ears perked up and my mind whirled at the thought. It was as if God was talking to me and telling me that He was opening doors for me. Two of my classmates looked at me immediately and said that I should do it; but I hesitated, saying that I was not ready. Although I had been working on my second book and planning to publish it, I was taking my sweet time, touching it when I felt like it. But, I was really procrastinating more than anything else.  Continue reading “My First Book Signing”

SO, WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU END up with someone, only to find out later that it was a huge mistake?

Maybe you were caught up with the romance of the whole affair and did not take the time to really get to know the other person. Maybe you had been single so long that you were afraid to be alone again, and you just wanted to make this relationship work. So, you ignored some of the warning signals (and we all get them). You let some things that really irked you slide, hoping that the person would change for the better if you just gave them some help and support.

So, you kept seeing that person, and you went along with the relationship just for the sake of having a relationship. You thought that you were saving yourself from embarrassment, if others saw you were still “together”; but inside you were not happy, because that person turned out to be a real monster that made your life miserable. Could this be your story? Can you relate to any of this or something similar? Are you still in this kind of situation? Continue reading "What If You Made a Mistake in Love?"

How to Control Your Mouth

How to Control Your Mouth

“The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.”—Proverbs 16:1

Relating Thoughts to Personal Experience

As I meditated on this scripture, I began to understand that people have the power and the responsibility to control what they put into their hearts so that what comes out of their mouths will be good. That is the only way to control your mouth, because what goes into your heart (your “spiritual womb”) will come out of your mouth in words that are born like a baby being expelled from its mother’s womb. Once it is time for delivery, the “baby” (i.e. your words) is going to come out. You have no control over that; it’s automatic. Continue reading “How to Control Your Mouth”
